In 1963, Kenneth & Helen Walker of San Antonio, Texas opened a small business called "Three Ninety-Nine Car Rentals." They had five automobiles, five children/employees and a lot of dreams.

A new way of doing business

As San Antonio was a popular, fast-growing city with a large military population, the Walkers recognized its potential. But they also recognized something else perhaps more important. To compete successfully with other, larger car rental companies, they would have to offer customers an exemplary product at the most affordable price with easy options and provide service above and beyond what everyone else offered.

All operations are consolidated

With the continued success of the family’s operations, the Walker children opened over a dozen additional rental locations. And in 1985, the decision was made to consolidate these operations under one name – Advantage Rent-A-Car. With locations across Texas and throughout the western US,

Advantage is now the largest independently owned car rental company in the region.

New technologies & systems are makin’ it easy

Since the beginning, however, the basis for all systems and services at Advantage has been to provide the customer with the best rental vehicle for the best possible price in the quickest amount of time. This business philosophy was summed up in 1998 with the phrase, "Makin’ it easy!"

In order to serve untapped markets, management has decided not to concentrate on just one type of rental office. Besides convenient airport locations, Advantage has opened offices throughout many cities, allowing the company to more efficiently service customers in its leisure, corporate, government contract and insurance replacement markets.

Smart negotiating with the major car manufacturers has netted Advantage (and you) a wide range of vehicle types. Everything from economy and luxury cars to sporty convertibles and rugged 4x4’s. Advantage even has large 15-passenger vans available at most locations.
