Snack-in-the-Box launched the snacks and drinks distribution at workplaces in
1991 and now has over 100 franchises. The self-service box scheme implies
regular delivery of snacks and drinks to small businesses. Staff select the
product they want and put the money in a cash-box. The franchisee then delivers
a new box and collects the money.
At start-up, the franchise partner gets the first 150 customers, over 250 boxes
and stock, training and ongoing support services from Snack-in-the-Box.
In 2000, Snack-in-the-Box launched the vending machines for larger businesses.
The vending machines are installed at no cost for the employer and there are no
contracts to sign. The franchise partner gets 75 battery powered machines
(Snack-in-the-Box guarantees to find sites for at least 50 of them) training and
a month on-site launch programme.
