Heathrow Secures Safe Car Park Award

London's Heathrow Airport's public car parks were presented with the Secured Car Park Awards at the Renaissance Hotel in March 2004. The award recognises the commitment Heathrow Airport gives to ensuring all its car parks are safe and secure.

The Secure Car Park Award scheme is assessed jointly by the Metropolitan Police and the British Parking Association and is awarded to car park operators who introduce effective measures to create a safe and secure environment for their customers.

Trevor Pereira said, "This scheme is vital to Heathrow's car parking business because it's an independent, respected assessment and commendation of our joint efforts with our business partners to enhance customer safety."

All nine public car parks at Heathrow now hold this award:

• Central terminal area multi-storey car parks, managed by NCP
• Terminal 4 multi-storey car park, managed by APCOA
• Long stay car park, managed by APCOA
• Parking Express; Pink Elephant and Park One business car parks, managed by Meteor
• Park & Fly business car park, managed by Central Parking Systems
  
  Also, this year, for the first time in the UK the scheme was extended to Heathrow's car rental companies: Avis, Hertz, Europcar and National/Alamo. BAA Retail is delighted that all four companies met the criteria and gained the award.
