Singapore Airlines Singapore Airlines Airline alliance:
About Singapore AirlinesSingapore Airlines is now recognised as one of the world's leading carriers. The airline route network covers 90 destinations in almost 40 countries. Singapore Airlines made history in 2004 when it launched the world's longest non-stop commercial flight from Singapore to Los Angeles. It's also the first airline to operate the world's largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, in 2006. Singapore Airlines HistoryIn 1947, Malayan Airways first operated a twin-engined Airspeed Consul between Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang. The company's name was changed twice: first in 1963 (when the Federation of Malaysia was created) the airline was named Malaysian Airways. Later, the company became Malaysia-Singapore Airlines, with the governments of Malaysia and Singapore as joint shareholders. In the early 70s, Malaysia-Singapore Airlines ceased operations and two new airlines, Malaysia Airline System and Singapore Airlines, were born. Singapore Airlines website
