London WC1
London's Bloomsbury, Gray’s
Inn, Soho, Holborn
| No other central postcode can be as
rewarding for those prepared to invest a little time, with secret corners
lying close to world-famous attractions. Split between Bloomsbury in the
west and St. Pancras in the east a few chunks of Clerkenwell and Finsbury. With so many open spaces, relatively car-free enclaves and intriguing
attractions this is a place to savour.
The western half of WC1 is Bloomsbury. Its grid pattern shows the planned
development of the district but above ground academia has taken over vast
tracts of territory.
London WC1's essentially square shape the main roads
around it (Euston Road to the north, Tottenham Court Road to the west, New
Oxford Street/High Holborn to the south and Gray's Inn Road to the east).
Euston Road has the great railway termini of Euston, King's
Cross and St. Pancras. To the east, in Clerkenwell, is the
commuters' station of Farringdon (Thameslink) |
