Zenith Port Royal Open
Port Royal OpenThe Port Royal Open concept, in which imagination, creative passion and technology meld, plays with light and shade, shapes a structure from the raw using unusual materials and offers a new vision of the future. The case is made of titanium, a biocompatible non-allergenic metal with a molecular structure of unique physical strength. Three times stronger than steel but half the weight, it is available in anthracite black, resulting in a dense matte case which enhances the dark, combative look of the watch.
The dial in TR90, a translucent
space technology material, has a depth of field that allows a trompe-l’oeil
effect to be created: the numerals and power reserve fan appear to float. At the
back, the movement itself can be seen, with the chequerboard upper plate – the
signature of the range – that enables the adjustment screws and the wheel to
show through. The monobloc movement –an El Primero 4021 C– has been sealed to increase the resistance of the watch. Any work required later must be done through a special opening in the lower part of the dial. The strap is moulded Kevlar and carbon and has a tensile strength of over 250 kilos. The double-folding clasp is also black titanium. The standard models with a basalt black or metallic white dial and organic rubber or black alligator straps were already available in two sizes, the XXT and a more compact sporty version. ZENITH brown and cobalt grey dials are also offered, and as ever the opening reveals the racing-car heart of the watch – the El Primero chronograph. The ergonomic push buttons, geometric guilloche pattern, pointed cones, fan-shape power reserve indicator and sculptured numerals are the other features of this particular style: urban, contemporary, a little off-beat, the Port Royal Open is a timepiece proud to be different that will appeal to strong personalities.
